I have had a love-hate relationship with charcoal since college and uni days, I love how some people use it, dynamic energy, or precisely crisp (Phil Edwards) where, on the other grubby hand, I tended to avoid it as I could never get those wonderful effects, and then would impatiently dump the charcoals.
Then, a few years ago, I rose to the challenge and started to create sketchbook pages of landscapes as J.F. drove. Maybe not the best idea in his clean car, but there were many benefits - not being precious with the drawing and no criticism of the driver... being the top ones. Plus, I've also used them on studio days.
Now, I am finally binding them together in sketchbooks . The first will be my A9sketches! Fingers crossed, I can remember how to do it!
